Trying to install ROE on XP X64

Trying to install ROE on XP X64

Postby Doomonme65 » Mon Dec 19, 2005 5:36 am

I have not been able to install this on my system as I have XP x64. I am getting a message stating I have to be running Windows 2000 or XP to install. I would think XP x64 would qualify. Any suggestions?

Doomonme65:
Do you have Doom3 installed?? If not, ROE will not install; if installed try this:

Make sure you install the 1.2 patch first, which can be found on the game disc in the Patch folder.
Try a manual install:
1) Insert the CD, but stop the auto-run
2) Go into my computer
3) Explore the ROE-CD
4) Open the Setup\Data folder
5) Right click on the d3xp folder, and select Copy
6) Go to the directory where Doom 3 is installed to (the default is C:\Program Files\Doom 3)
7) Go to menu at the top and select Edit > Paste
8) Once the d3xp folder has finished copying over, right click on the Doom 3 executable, and select 'Create Shortcut'
9) Right-click on the shortcut that is made, and go to Properties
10) Click on the Shortcut tab
11) Add this to the end of the target line: +set fs_game d3xp

Your entire target line should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\Doom3.exe" +set fs_game d3xp

12) Click Apply then OK
13) Launch the game from this shortcut
14) The first time the game is launched, it will ask you to enter your Resurrection of Evil CD key. Enter it, and you should be able to play the game normally

Good-luck, let us know if you need help...

You should also be installing to the /Program Files x86/ folder as I believe its still the same 32bit game that gets installed.

Thanks for the tutorial on this fix. It worked like a charm. I was ready to get rid of XP 64 bit before this fix came up. I am glad it worked. Thanks again.
